More than a
building

With its unique location and inspiring architecture, the center will host and conduct international peace-building work. Animation video of the center.

About
Peacepainting

Peacepainting is an international NGO that uses art to work for equality.

We believe that everybody has a good place inside, and when we look at each other with real respect, this place can grow. In our painting workshops, children/youth are taken seriously and we listen to the messages they want to convey via their paintings and accompanying poetry. Afterwards, the paintings w/poems are exhibited in places where they can influence and raise awareness in adults, especially decision makers.

Function

Peacepainting Center will be a global knowledge and communication center focused on taking social responsibility for future generations.

As Peacepainting’s headquarters, the center will be a space for conducting national and international workshops, exhibitions, instructor trainings and administrative work. The center will also be a venue for conferences and seminars.

In collaboration with public and private businesses from our large national and international network, Peacepainting Center will have a strong international impact on equality, the first of its kind.

"Through grants, Nordland County Council has shown great faith in Peacepainting as a method for working with human rights, equality and peace, and as a successful method for integration."

— Nordland County Council

Strategically
located

The Guldvikhaugen peninsula has a distinctive profile that borders with fjords in all directions. Facing west, the center will enjoy a breathtaking view of the sea and horizon.

This location has been strategically chosen as it is discreetly secluded in beautiful surroundings, yet also located just next to the coastal highway Fv17, running 630 kilometres along the coast in the Northern part of Norway.

This highway attracts high volumes of tourists during the seasons, and Peacepainting Center will be a natural resource for them and other target groups.

Innovative Architecture

Peacepainting Center will embody an architecturally significant collection of buildings, with many elements carefully taken into account. The buildings will naturally blend in with the environment - without sacrificing quality and functionality. Due to this clever architectural design, the spaces will create a feeling of being in harmony with nature.

For constructions, environmentally friendly materials and renewable energy sources will be used where possible.

With all these factors combined, the center will reflect Peacepainting's vision and ambition, and provide a creative space for children and a national and international network of contacts: artists, educators, instructors, entrepreneurs, politicians and others. Current progress

Funded by various institutions, the area has been zoned and the architects have created a complete project proposal for the building. We are currently in the middle phase which consists of making all decisions and necessary plans before construction can begin. As a non-profit organisation, we rely on grants and donations to realize and fund this opportunity.
